THE TRYST

Lost in a horizon, my eyes fail to see the zenith.
In my effort to find a way out,I reach the place
where I started.

I know
Whatever was, is and will be offered to me
was never mine.

All those tokens will remain here, long after I'm gone.
But,nevertheless I pile them up again and again.
Tie them with threads of love, affection, attachment and greed.
I often ponder,
Why should I sacrifice anything that is rightfully mine ?

I shrug off all my tears, seeming worthless to others
Proudly clutching each insult,hatred,mockery
and vulgar comment that life inflicted on me.
I think I'll return them someday .
But to whom??Where??

All around me I see a battlefield,a 'Kurukshetra'
Of the known and the unknown.
Whom shall I bestow with
This cocktail of abuses,
Which I never liked myself ?

Rather I'll keep it all for myself.
I shall treat them as my ornaments.
Obviously,I won't go empty handed.
When we meet, he'll see it for himself
That I know how to deck myself in all finery
Tying my hair into a gorgeous bun
Lining my eyes with the black pestilence of bad names
And all my poignant frustrations metamorphosizing into
this sparkling red ruby on my finger.

First, I will like to say that I am honored to be the first one to comment on the first post of this new blog.

Now, I loved the fact that you dedicated this blog to your mother.

Also, I must say, that I dont understand words well, but I am pretty sure that there were no flaws in this one whatsoever!

Again, I must applaud for your mom to writing such a deep thing....and to you for having the courage to translate it....Kudos to both of you for this amazing work!

Loved it....By the way, I am blogrolling this blog too. :)

Anwesha, I would love to read the original one - oriya wala. I feel translation takes away the charm from the original rendition from any piece. I'm sure the beauty of the piece will be better cherished in our beautiful mother tongue.
:)

p.s : My moms a poet too.

Hello Anwesha Ji,

Thanks for sharing this post...

Will you please add a link with it too, for the author...Please!!!

Its the outcome of the hardtimes. It doesnt matter much now coz time changes... But if you can add a link of the original post...that would be really appreciable...If not...let me know I will remove the post from the blog so people wont get confused of the two posts...

BTW nice addups...it really changed the gist in right way...
